Simple method I use to break never ending procrastination.

Quality in starting work

Read time: 2 minutes

Do you find it challenging to start tasks right away?

And then you end up pushing it to next day and next day and on and on?

Procrastination is a common problem these days!

Like me  - I was avoiding a task for months

I was planning to create a Course book, but often delayed working on it as I knew it needed a lot of commitment of time and energy.

I was stuck in a never ending Procrastination cycle, until I tried this method that worked like a charm for me.

Method:

1. Whenever you feel you have to start some task and of course you don't feel like doing it (for various reasons) - Just tell yourself that - You don't have to do it all, but just a few things that would kick start the task.

For eg:  I told myself that - Today, I will start writing the Course Book and I don’t have to do it all, but just write a few lines and that's it.

I wrote 5 lines and that was ok. At Least I started it!

Next day, I told myself the same thing - Just write a few more lines and that's it.

I ended up writing 200 words that day.

2. Now that I had kickstarted the task, my Procrastination cycle was already broken. All I had to do was to find a way to keep the task going.

I used a website (Pomofocus.io) which has Pomodoro clock timer

It  helped me commit to that particular task for 25 mins followed by a 5 mins break.

I gained full focus on my work for 25 mins straight and then enjoyed my break guilt free.

Also, felt proud of myself for overcoming Procrastination.

If you are Procrastinating about starting something for a long time, just tell yourself - You don't have to do it all, but just a few things that would kick start the task.

Want to walk 10k steps everyday? Just walk a few steps today.

Want to start reading a book? Just read a few lines today.

Want to meditate everyday? Just sit still for a few seconds today.

Reply to this email and let me know what you are Procrastinating about?

Until next week!

Cheers,
